Black in Immuno is proud to host The Changemaker Series: An exploration of advocacy and activism in STEM. Throughout the series, we hope to provide a platform where we can discuss equity, research, and projects by members of the community. With each event, we aim to facilitate a collective learning approach to the challenges, best practices, and history of advocacy in STEM.

About the Speaker:

Dr. Juliet Daniel

Dr. Daniel is a professor and Cancer Biologist in the Department of Biology. Her research includes elucidating the molecular/genetic causes of the disparities in incidence and poor outcomes of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) in Black women. Dr. Daniel is the co-founder of the Canadian Black Scientist Network which is an organization working towards supporting the development and creating mentorship opportunities for Black Canadian Scientists. She is also a member of the President’s advocacy committee for Building an Inclusive Community at McMaster and a founder of the Canadian Multicural LEAD Organization for mentoring and training high school students. In addition, she co-founded the African Caribbean Faculty Association of McMaster (ACFAM)
